
Jakree Koosakul currently serves as Economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he is responsible for economic surveillance and research within the European Department.
Previously, he served in the Strategy Unit of the Strategy, Policy and Review Department, responsible for strategic work in support of IMF management, research on the international monetary systems, and economic surveillance on West Africa. Prior to the IMF, Jakree served as Economist at the Bank for International Settlement (BIS) in 2016, and as Senior Analyst at the Bank of Thailand during 2013-17, where he conducted research on financial markets and banking regulations. Jakree also has research experience at the Bank of England (BOE) in 2020, where he worked on financial stability issues concerning non-bank financial institutions.
Jakree holds a PhD in Economics from Johns Hopkins University, an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor of Economics with Econometrics (Honours Class 1) from the University of New South Wales.
