
Graduating with a Bachelor degree in Economics (First-class honours) from Thammasat University, Dr. Nat Tharnpanich, with Royal Thai Government Scholarship, obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA and his Ph.D. in Land Economy from University of Cambridge, UK.
He previously held positions as a Trade Officer at the Trade Policy and Strategy Office of the Ministry of Commerce, served as Assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, and was Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the World Trade Organization and the World Intellectual Property Organization. Prior to joining the Ministry of Commerce, he worked as a consultant with the Development Research Group of the World Bank Group in Washington, DC. His publication includes an article in Journal of Post Keynesian Economics and a book chapter in An Introduction to Macroeconomics: An Heterodox Approach to Economic Analysis. He also has frequently given lectures at several leading universities.
Currently, he is a lecturer at Faculty of Economics, Chulalongkorn University.His research interests cover international trade theory and policy, world trading system, the WTO law, and economics of structural change.
