
Professor Piriya Pholphirul is Director of Centre of Development Economics Studies and full professor of Economics of the Graduate School of Development Economics, National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA). He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Chulalongkorn University, a master’s degree in policy economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) and doctorate in economics from Georgia State University (USA). He also spent three years leave from NIDA to serve as a Human Development Economist at the World Bank. Before that, he was Vice Dean of the International College of National Institute of Development Administration (ICO NIDA), a research specialist at the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI), and Researcher at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University (USA).
Professor Piriya has been teaching and conducting extensive research in various fields of economics He has also published more than 50 research article worldwide and wrote more than 150 op-ed articles in newspapers.
