
Currently, Punjaphut serves as assistant director, Monetary Policy Group, Bank of Thailand.
Punjaphut holds a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His experience spans analysis of the Thai and global economies, the development of economic models to support monetary policy, and policy research on structural economic issues, including investment, agriculture, business, and finance. He previously served as a Senior Economist at Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri), conducting research and providing economic and business strategy advice to executives and corporate clients. He currently serves an economic policy working team supporting advisers of the Deputy Prime Minister.
His research and publications cover the role of exports in Thailand’s economic growth, Open Banking policy, the role of collateral in access to credit, business adaptation after the COVID-19 crisis, agricultural development, and Reinvent Thailand. His interests center on linking empirical research with policy design to strengthen Thailand’s long-term growth potential.
