Warapong received a bachelor’s degree in quantitative economics (First Class Honours) from Chulalongkorn University. He then read for an MPhil and a PhD in Economics at Cambridge, UK, with full financial support from the Cambridge-Thai Foundation in collaboration with the Cambridge Overseas Trust and the Shell Centenary Fund.
Warapong is specialised in financial economics, econometrics, and forecasting. He has published in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Empirical Finance, and serves on the editorial board of Journal of Asset Management.
At the Bank of Thailand (BOT), Warapong manages the secretariat team to the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), and oversees policy recommendations and analytical support to aid MPC’s decisions.
Before joining BOT, Warapong was a Vice President at TMB Analytics, a research division of TMB Bank Pcl.
