
Similan holds a PhD in Economics from University College London and an MSc in Economics (Research) from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
He is currently an Associate Professor (tenured) at the Faculty of Political Science and Economics, Waseda University, Japan, and a Research Associate at the Centre for Macroeconomics (CfM). Prior to his current position, he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Aarhus University, Denmark.
His research fields are macroeconomics, search and matching, and labour economics. His work focuses on labour market dynamics, labour market policies, and business cycle fluctuations. His research has been published in journals such as the European Economic Review and the Review of Economic Dynamics.
