Currently, Pumsaran serves as Policy and Planning Analyst, Bureau of Policy and Strategy, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education.
Pumsaran is interested in using large-scale international dataset on education such as PISA, TIMSS for various educational analyses. Currently, he is also working on projects involving the distribution of resources for a better educational equality in Thailand. He has been involved in research projects with various organizations such as TDRI, QLF, ADB, UNESCO etc.
He obtained his PhD in Economics of Education, M.A. in Economics from Stanford University. He also received MPP from the University of Chicago and B.A. in Economics from Thammasat University.
