Dr. Worawet Suwanrada is a professor in the Faculty of Economics, Chulalongkorn University.
He earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Osaka University in 2000. Prior to joining CU, he was an assistant professor at the Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University, Japan. In 2019, he received the National Distinguished Researcher Award in Economics from the National Research Council of Thailand. He also served as the Dean of College of Population Studies (2012–2016) and Dean of Faculty of Economics (2016–2020), Chulalongkorn University. Currently, he is serving as a committee member of National Elderly Committee.
His primary area of research focuses on old-age income support, social protection and public finance. His research has been published in several journals, including Ageing International, Journal of Economics of Ageing, Journal of Aging & Social Policy. He is also a co-author of many edited books, including Social Protection for Older Persons: Social Pensions in Asia, Recommendation on Social Protection Floors: Basic Principles for Innovative Solutions.
