
Tanisa Tawichsri
Dr. Tanisa Tawichsri is a Principal Researcher at the Puey Ungphakorn Institute for Economic Research (PIER). Her research spans labor economics, public economics, and inflation expectations, with a focus on policy-relevant empirical work in developing economies. Her recent work examines the effects of minimum wage policy, the distributional and welfare effects of tax policy, firm-level inflation expectations, and the use of large language models to measure news-based inflation expectations.
She received her Ph.D. in Economics from Arizona State University in 2018, along with master's degrees in Statistics and Economics. She holds a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics, magna cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis.
Before joining PIER, she was a policy and planning analyst at the National Accounts Office of Thailand's National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC). She has also taught at the university level and in policy-training settings, including Arizona State University and Chulalongkorn University, and has delivered econometrics training to central bank staff under a SEACEN program.
