Dr.Thitima is currently the Director of Economic and Financial Market Research, Economic Intelligence Center (EIC), Siam Commercial Bank. Prior the that, Dr.Thitima had gained years of experiences as a central bank economist at the Bank of Thailand. The latest position was the Deputy Director of Monetary Policy Department, supervising key areas such as monetary policy strategy, interest rate policy, exchange rate, capital flows and financial markets, inflation dynamics, financial stability, and fiscal policy coordination. Dr.Thitima also had opportunity to join with the special taskforce of the Retail Central Bank Digital Currency at the Bank of Thailand at a starting point of the ‘Digital Baht’.
Dr.Thitima has expertise in macroeconomics, monetary economics, public finance and public policy. Her interests fall into areas of monetary policy, financial markets and digital finance, fiscal sustainability. Her research interests also include applied macroeconomic model to examine interactions of monetary and fiscal policies as well as macroeconomic issues in Thailand, for example, household debt and saving behaviors and impacts on consumption. In addition to monetary policy, fiscal policy, and macroeconomic issues, her interests also cover supply-side policy issues to enhance Thailand’s potential output level, such as total factor productivity and resource allocation, labor market transformation and labor productivity, as well as labor mobility between formal and informal sectors.
Dr.Thitima held a master degree in economic development from the National Institute for Development Administration in Thailand and a master degree in public policy from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Japan. She received a doctoral degree in Economics from the Australian National University in Australia.
Apart from her work and research, Dr.Thitima is also a columnist of Thairath newspapers “Bangkhunprom Chuankid” column. The articles had been collected into a pocket book Bangkhunprom Chuankid 1.0.
