Dr.Witsanu Attavanich is an Associate Professor of Economics at Kasetsart University. He received his B.Sc. in Economics (Summa Cum Laude) at Kasetsart University, M.A. at Thammasat University and Ph.D. at Texas A&M University. He pursued his postdoctoral training at Rutgers University and served as a visiting fellow of Summer Research Institute at Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford.
His research efforts have largely involved policy analysis (mainly in climate change, agriculture, energy, environment, food security and development). His research outputs have been published in several international journals such as Nature, Climate Change, and American Journal of Agricultural Economics. He received the 2019 Puey Ungphakorn Award for the Young Thai Economist who has outstanding academic performance; Outstanding award for research & innovation from Kasetsart University. His contributed report won the 2016 Abraham Lincoln Honor Award for Increasing Global Food Security from the USDA. He serves as an associate editor of Kasetsart Journal of Social Sciences and Applied Economics Journal.
