Session II: Expanding the Boundary of SME Financial Services Moderator: Daranee Saeju (Bank of Thailand) As the nation’s largest employer, SMEs are an integral part of the Thai economy and its development. Yet SMEs’ access to financial services remain constrained. Key obstacles on the SMEs’ side include the lack of credit history, inadequate collateral, and inability to communicate convincing business plans. On the banks’ side, high credit, operational, and regulatory costs owing to inadequate information for credit analysis remain major hurdles.
