Currently, Dr. Samphantharak serves as Professor at the School of Global Policy and Strategy at University of California San Diego (UCSD) and Advisor of the Puey Ungphakorn Institute for Economic Research at Bank of Thailand. Prior to his current position, he was Executive Director of the Puey Ungphakorn Institute for Economic Research. His work experiences and interests are in finance, economic development, and public policy, especially in household and enterprises behaviors and role together with economic development in Southeast Asia region.
Dr. Samphantharak holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from University of Chicago. He previously held visiting positions at the International Monetary Fund, University of California Los Angeles, University of Tokyo, and Yale-NUS College in Singapore.
