ดร.กรรณิการ์ ปัจจุบันเป็นหัวหน้ากลุ่มงานวิจัยที่สถาบันวิจัยเศรษฐกิจป๋วย อึ๊งภากรณ์ งานวิจัยของ ดร.กรรณิการ์ ใช้เครื่องมือทางเศรษฐศาสตร์ร่วมกับข้อมูลขนาดใหญ่ ในการเข้าใจผลกระทบของการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศและนโยบายด้านภูมิอากาศต่อเศรษฐกิจไทย รวมถึงการเงินเพื่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ (climate finance) โดยมีผลงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับผลกระทบของการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศต่อภาคเศรษฐกิจและการเงินของไทยหลายชิ้น และมีผลงานตีพิมพ์ในวารสารนานาชาติ

ดร.กรรณิการ์ เคยเป็นอาจารย์ประจําที่ School of Economics and Finance ที่ University of St Andrews และนักวิชาการอาวุโสที่สถาบันวิจัยเพื่อการพัฒนาประเทศไทย

ดร.กรรณิการ์ สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาเอกด้านเศรษฐศาสตร์จาก University of Warwick และเป็นผู้ได้รับรางวัลป๋วย อึ๊งภากรณ์ สำหรับนักเศรษฐศาสตร์รุ่นใหม่ที่มีผลงานดีเด่น ประจำปี 2564
